Big walks 2016
The RSPCA run a series of dog walking events called Big Walkies throughout England and Wales to protect more animals and help them find loving new homes!
Yesterday, Sunday 11th September, we got together as team and created our own ‘pooch troop’ with our furry friends, Alfie, Buddy, Coco, Marley and Betty to participate in the Big Walkies at Mote Park in Maidstone.
It’s the first time our dogs have met, to begin with their were a few growls and sniffs whilst they checked each other out and Betty wasn’t sure on Alfie. We all took the longer route of 5k, and the dogs settled down and got along once we started the walk. The sun was shining and we had to make a few stops along on the way for water breaks. We completed the walk in about an hour and had a great day out! At the end of the walk your dogs get a goodie bag with some tasty treats as an award for completing the walk.
You can register with or without a dog for just £10. Additional dogs cost £5 each and you can bring up to four dogs with each registration. What are you waiting for? Find out more or sign up now http://www.rspca.org.uk/bigwalkies
If you don’t have a dog but still want to take part, you can volunteer. The RSPCA are recruiting hundreds of volunteers to help make it the best day ever. Visit http://www.rspca.org.uk/bigwalkies/findanevent/volunteer
