Following a trip to Australia in early 2014 I started experiencing pains in my abdomen on the flight home. As soon as I landed back in the UK I visited the hospital where doctors told me that I had developed a hernia. I was then booked in for an operation in a few days’ time and was sent home with strong anti-inflammatory pain killers to control the pain before surgery.
After surgery, as expected, I felt very fatigued and lethargic but a day after the operation I was sent home with a whole heap of different medicines, the wound was left open and the doctors said it would take a week or so to fully close. I rested for 2 weeks and took medicine as prescribed but then noticed that the wound looked infected and my abdomen was very tender. I went back to the hospital and the surgeon told  me that the wound was infected and I was prescribed more antibiotics and anti-inflammatories to fight the infection.
Taking all of these medicines was having adverse effects on my health; I would experience stomach cramps and all sorts of pains across my body from taking them. I worried and being a healthy person I was not used to this and I was very anxious about if I would ever be myself again. It was suggested to me by my Father, who is involved in the medical business himself with his own medical company, to try PEMF therapy. Together we contacted the only company we knew who are based in Germany to supply us with a full body mat, as my father was sure that the benefits of PEMF therapy would help my situation and send me on the road to recovery.
I couldn’t believe how quickly I started to see and feel results. The wound started to clear up and heal properly and the pain was less and less every day. Within a week I was off the antibiotics and any form of pain killer. My body was free of all the artificial chemicals and was now healing itself so much more efficiently.
I continued with the therapy for weeks after the operation and when I went back to visit my surgeon he told me that following the infection he was worried that more medical intervention would be needed to clean the wound properly if the infection did not clear. Instead, he was looking at a completely healed scar that looked like it was done a year ago, not 2 months ago! The surgeon put it down to the fact that I was young and healthy and told me to stay away from the gym and from running for 3 months.
Almost straight after being fully discharged, I started training again at the pre-surgery level. I had already ruled myself out for the 2014 Spartan Race, which I had participated in for the last 2 years but after using the PEMF therapy I had a new lease of life and decided, 3 months on from my operation and all the complications that came with it to line up for my third Spartan Race and I was placed 23rd out of 5000 participants!
I had never performed like this before and nobody could believe that 3 months before I was in such a dark place. I have always been very athletic but never been competing at this level.
The experience I went through gave me something to think about, I knew that PEMF therapy was widely used in the USA and Germany but not so much in other countries. The flagship countries are always one step ahead with innovative technology and medical advances.
I wanted others in the UK to have the opportunity that I had experienced, and I have now brought the technology to the UK market by opening NewMed. Being such a believer of PEMF therapy after such a positive experience of using it myself, I thought there would be no better advocate for it in the UK. I now use the full-body PEMF therapy mattress every day, once in the morning and once in the evening and I’m performing better than ever on a daily basis and at sporting events. I’ve recently signed myself up to participate in an Ultra White Collar Boxing event to raise money for Cancer Research!
So far, with the help of my team and PEMF therapy, we have together improved the quality of life for many people. I have personally experienced customers describe this type of therapy as life-changing! Not only are we running a successful business we have the satisfaction of changing the lives of many.
