PEMF & Fibromyalgia
Are you aware that today (12th May 2022) is Fibromyalgia Awareness Day?
But what is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia, also known as Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS), is a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body. The symptoms of fibromyalgia will differ for everyone that suffers, but the main symptom being pain all over your body. Other symptoms can also include extreme tiredness, muscle stiffness, difficulty sleeping, headaches, IBS, and problems with mental processes.
The condition affects approximately 7 times more women than men, and some estimates suggest that 1 in 20 people may be affected by fibromyalgia to some degree.
There is no cure for fibromyalgia however some treatments may be able to reduce its symptoms. PEMF therapy is not condition-specific but can potentially help to ease your symptoms, it can also be used alongside other treatments as a complementary therapy. Becci used PEMF to help treat her fibromyalgia and longstanding pain, she said “I used the mat first thing in the morning and then at night I put the mat on my bed and try to relax. I initially used the program at night and once the cycle had finished I was so drowsy. It was a strange feeling, but for the first time in months I slept like a baby.’ You can read Becci’s story here.
Whatever the intended use of PEMF therapy, due to its large treatment area, a full-body mat is always ideal as it will allow the therapy to penetrate the whole body.
