Migraine Awareness Week 2019
Migraine awareness week (MAW) is an annual campaign to draw attention to a migraine, educate and reduce stigma. According to the Migraine Trust, Migraine is more prevalent than diabetes, epilepsy and asthma combined and are the 3rd most common disease in the world, and they are estimated to affect 1 in 7 people.
Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields (PEMFs) have been used to help treat migraines and have shown promising results.
In one study, PEMF therapy used for at least 20 minutes per day, reduced the frequency and intensity of migraines; shorter PEMF therapy sessions reduced pain by 73% and longer courses reduced pain by 90% (Dr Pawluk.com).
Whilst PEMF therapy may not be able to completely stop migraines, studies have shown that it can significantly improve them. Stress and sleep (too little or too much) are both common triggers for migraine sufferers. PEMF systems, both high and low intensity can be used via localised devices, directly to the head to provide some relief to these triggers. Stress can be helped by PEMF therapy on a therapeutic level, low frequencies can have a calming and relaxing effect on our bodies. Just like too little sleep can be helped in the same way, PEMFs can help relax you into a better nights sleep. Higher frequencies will in turn then help you to boost your energy levels, making waking up in the mornings a little easier, avoiding the triggering of a migraine.
