Lupus Awareness Month 2017

You may have seen that Selena Gomez has been posting on social media about her journey with Lupus and how she has recently had a kidney transplant over the summer as a result of her condition. As it is Lupus awareness month this October I thought I would write a little post of what I have been learning about Lupus and PEMF therapy over the past few days.

It is great that she has been so open about her experience as it raises awareness for the condition which goes undiagnosed so easily by doctors as the symptoms are so similar to many other medical conditions. Lupus is an incurable immune system disease. It occurs mainly in females but some males can develop the illness too. Sometimes it is genetic, sometimes it can develop after puberty,  childbirth or whilst women go through the menopause.

From what I understand, Lupus is where the body’s immune system produces too many antibodies which then pass through the bloodstream which can cause inflammation and reactions all over the body. The main areas of the body that often become affected by Lupus are the kidneys, skin, heart, lungs and brain. Some of these are affected because of the daily medication that’s taken by those who suffer from illness because they have to be taken every day over a lifetime. According to Lupus.Org, ‘60% of all people with Lupus will develop kidney complications’. The medication for Lupus and the treatment, from my personal research, are not of a huge variety but as time goes on and people are being made more and more aware, people are being treated individually with medications. At present, stem cell transplants are being tested and experimented and new medications are gradually being introduced to Lupus patients.

I have found from research that PEMF therapy has been used to help improve the symptoms of Lupus. A drug-free alternative! PEMF therapy can help to treat inflammation, fatigue and ease muscle and joint aches. These are just some of the main conditions we strive to try and help relieve. Among depression, anxiety and general well-being. On our website, we have a health topic page where we talk about a variety of health conditions that can be improved using PEMF therapy.

If you would like to find out more on this Illness then I found  ‘http://www.lupusuk.org.uk/’ extremely helpful. They also have a just giving page, the link to this I will be posting at the end of this blog. If you would like to donate to help in the research of Lupus please do so here! Let’s raise some Lupus awareness. #thisislupus #lupusawarenessmonth

Thanks for reading, I hope to post again soon.
