Increasing recovery time for dogs with PEMFs – We hear from Veterinary Lead
We spoke with Hayley Telling, a Galen Myotherapist and Veterinary Nurse, to discuss how she uses PEMF therapy in her practice.
PEMFs (Pulsed electromagnetic fields) are applied externally, and they pass through the body which stimulates the body’s cells. Just like we humans do, animals can also benefit from PEMF therapy. Many professionals who specialise in the care of animals are offering PEMF therapy alongside other methods, as PEMFs are complementary to other treatments/ therapies.
Hayley is also an international championship dog agility handler, who has represented Team GB and Team Wales on numerous occasions, and has also won various events at Crufts, Discover Dogs, and the London Olympia Horse Show. Hayley has a passion for musculoskeletal health, which is what lead her to qualify as a Galen Myotherapist in 2021. This qualification alongside her experience is dog agility is how she came to use PEMF, she told us that PEMF was routinely advised for both the recovery and rehabilitation of their agility dogs.
Hayley commented on her experience using PEMF therapy in her professional setting, ” Use of the PEMF therapy as a part of the dog’s rehabilitation plan has definitely helped to increase their recovery times, both from injury and as part of recovery from intense exercise. When I use the PEMF therapy mat for dogs in discomfort who are avoidant of hands-on treatment, I notice that the dogs are more relaxed and accepting of hands-on following the PEMF therapy.”
When asked whether Hayley would recommend PEMF therapy she said, “I would absolutely recommend PEMF therapy to others as well as their pets!”
You can access PEMF therapy via professionals like Hayley, or you can purchase a PEMF pet pad, which can be found on NewMed’s website in the pets section of the shop, or by clicking here!
